In this module we focus on the style, presentation and structure of emails, memos and reports, including how to:

  • Use formal and informal English in the correct context to set the right tone
  • Be direct and brief or indirect and polite
  • Structure sentences, improve spelling and apply punctuation to streamline your correspondence
  • Use linking words to communicate cause, effect and contrast
  • Describe business trends
  • Give news, request information and arrange meetings
  • Use verb forms, if clauses and the passive confidently
  • Structure reports and use key phrases to communicate your ideas concisely
  • Complain and apologise effectively
